As you may have seen in my other posts here & here, you know I have two little chihuahua-mix bonded sisters. And if you’ve read the rest of my posts or the tagline of this blog, you know I love to decorate! So today I’m sharing my newly designed dog room, aka “Four Paws Hotel,” that I created in our enclosed garage that’s heated & cooled like the rest of the house.
I have been doing some dog walking & drop-ins through Rover & thought, why not host them at my own house? Of course, this meant I had an excuse to decorate & I went all out mostly thanks to Hobby Lobby. Luckily I was able to do it on a budget which I mention how after each picture below!
Hobby Lobby had an amazing 50% off ALL wall decor sale so I scored big time! Even these shelves were part of this deal. The “eat” sign is from Hobby Lobby & the bed is actually an infant mattress & sheets from a thrift store! Food bowls & water container are from T.J. Maxx & the black mat is from Dollar General. The green cushions were a hand-me-down from my mom. I cut them up to create a mini pad & bumper. The pillows were also given to me & I painted the paw w/acrylic paint!Since we used natural wood paneling to divide the room, I tried to incorporate that tone w/the wall decor & I like how it turned into a rustic, Joanna Gaines look! Ironically, the cloth to dry their feet is a Magnolia dish towel from Target that I already had.Pictures & hooks are from Hobby Lobby. The paws are 4 separate pieces that I hung side-by-side to make it look like one long leash hangar! The nightlight is from Amazon.WOOF letters are, again, from Hobby Lobby. I like how it mimics the tall Welcome sign opposite the room. The only wall pieces that are not from Hobby Lobby are the cork boards. The framed one is from Walmart & the bistro lights are from Amazon!I bought chalkboard paint & created a sign on the wood. Then I found a font I liked on fontspace.com & copied it w/chalk (I’ll change the dog’s name for each stay)! The stool is from Target & the toy tin is from a thrift store!Paws mat is from Kohl’s w/a coupon of course. The large grey rug is from Ollies (a discount store). This door conveniently opens to a fenced-in backyard! The curtains are actually 2 shower curtains from Walmart. They are hanging by twine that is tied to a hook from wall to wall.My parents helped me put pavers down outside of the room to create a walkway. We also filled the gap w/stones – both were budget-friendly purchases from Lowe’s.A close-up of how I’ve started to fill the bulletin boards. These are my dogs, Josi (Assistant Manager) & Mina (Concierge). They take their jobs very seriously 🙂
If you or anyone you know happens to be in Columbia, SC, your dogs are welcome to stay at Four Paws Hotel! Otherwise, I hope this inspires those who want to create a little dog room of their own. It’s easy to do & won’t break the bank if you look for sales & deals!
